Week of May 20th
It has finally happened, the website is up and running! I must give the credit to my sisters for getting it all going (Thank you!). We hope you enjoy it and that it is informative and helpful.
It has been a busy winter and spring. We started some of our tomato plants in late February and transplanted them into the greenhouse on April 3rd, just in time for three nights of 20 degree weather and the beginning of 2 weeks of below normal temps. However, we kept every plant alive and now they are flowering and some have fruit already setting. During that time frame we did lose some production on our strawberry and raspberry plants. I believe we lost about 15% production on both red and black raspberries, but only 5% loss on strawberries.
We currently are picking strawberries on a daily basis, and it looks as if we will have a good supply on most varieties. We planted our new strawberry patch at the Cisco Rd. location, but we are not allowing U-Pick in the strawberries due to our plants not being the size we feel they need to be. However, the raspberries are doing very well and we will allow U-Pick for both red and black raspberries in about one month.
If you want strawberries this week, we will be open from noon to six Monday thru Saturday. Starting next week we will be open from ten to six Monday thru Saturday.
