Crossway Farms Weekly Update

Another week has gone by and brought us a new month and new weather. It’s a good thing tomatoes and peppers like it hot, because that’s what we’ve got. The heat of August means the garden is in full swing.

Whether you want the heirloom or hybrid tomatoes, we have plenty for you to choose from. Those of you who are heating up your kitchens this month can come in and get some canning tomatoes at discounted prices. Our pepper selection is diverse this year. We have some beautiful and unique colored bell peppers such as lilac, yellow, chocolate, and of course green. We also have some hot peppers: hot banana, garden salsa, jalapeno, and cayene.

The cucumbers are in full production and we have plenty of yellow squash and zucchini for making bread or stir fry. This will be the last week for red cabbage, but we will have more green cabbage in about a month’s time. We still have a good supply of green beans and should have for another week or so. Our flowers are all in full bloom except the gladiolas which are about done for the year.

If you’re looking for something new this week, we’ve got black-eyed peas and okra ready for you.

We are starting to pick some fall red raspberries (it is a little early), and our u-pick will be opening soon. We still have Fulton’s sweet corn for sale at the market and downtown on Saturday’s.

Our Cisco Rd. location will be closed on Saturday August 4th, but we will be at the Farmers Market that morning.

Angie and Debbie will have their baked goods at the downtown Farmer’s Market (Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon) and I have listed the items below.
Baked Goods: No Bake Cookies, Peanut Butter Fudge, White Chocolate Fudge, Chocolate Fudge, Rice Krispy Treats, Lemon Bars, Frosted Cut-out Cookies, Oatmeal Cookies, Mini-Carrot Cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting, Hershey Kiss Cookies, Pennsylvania Dutch Coffee Cakes, Buckeyes, and Homemade Jams.
