Crossway Farms Weekly Update

Well, a few days ago I would have thought fall had arrived, but now I would say it was just a teaser. With the heat we have had, we have turned our irrigation back on and are hoping for some temperature relief. However, it’s definitely looking like fall at the farm and the store. Our full line of fall produce and decorations are ready, and we are now open Sundays from 1- 5 p.m. for your convienience.

The U-pick pumpkin patch is open, so bring your family out to choose the perfect pumpkins for decorating, carving or using for pie. If you’re not up to a walk through the patch, we’ve got many nice pre-selected pumpkins for sale.

We also have our full line of produce, plus gourds, mini-pumpkins, corn shocks, straw bales, Indian corn, apple cider and several varieties of apples. We have purchased the apples and cider from Wesler Orchards in New Paris, Ohio. We have visited Weslers and have been very impressed with their apples and cider.

There will be a limited supply of raspberries downtown, and as many of you know they will go quickly. Don’t forget that our U-pick red raspberry patch is open. They are doing well and will be producing until the first hard frost. Our produce is starting to decline in production, however we have good quality produce, just in smaller amounts.

Please remember our fall hours: Mon. — Wed. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Thurs.; Fri. and Sat. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You can find us in our usual courtsquare spot on Saturday and we’ll be there the whole day. We’ll have our full line of produce, plus gourds, mini-pumpkins, bartlett pears, apple cider and, of course, APPLES!

We will offer three varieties of apples: Jonathan, Gala, and Golden Supreme. We have purchased the apples, pears, and cider from Wesler Orchards in New Paris, Ohio. We have visited Weslers and have been very impressed with their apples and cider.

There will be a limited supply of raspberries downtown, and as many of you know they will go quickly. We will also have tomatoes, peppers of many varieties, cabbage, and all of our other “usual” produce.

Due to the Applefest, we will not be open at our Cisco Rd. Farm market on Saturday, Sept. 8. We apologize to those who had hoped to U-Pick red raspberries.
