Crossway Farms Weekly Update
Is it October or July? With the weather we have had lately, I’m not sure, and neither are our plants! The tomatoes and peppers have been slowing down but some of them are now trying to put on more blooms. We have plenty of cabbage and green beans plus some zucchini and snow peas. The red raspberries are still coming but have not been as productive as we had hoped. However, as many of you know we have been picking 15 to 20 quarts of strawberries daily. I know it is not the season, but they have been delicious.
We still have apples and apple cider and should have them through the end of October. Some of the varieties we have are: Jonathan, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, and Cortland. We have been busy at the farm with the pumpkin patch and fall decorations. Come out and pick your own pumpkin or choose from our pre-picked selection.
Believe it or not, this Saturday is the last day for the Sidney Farmers Market. We will have apples, cider and all the other produce plus Angie’s Coffee Cakes. We will still have the produce at the farm through the end of the month as long as the weather permits.
Please remember our fall hours: Mon. — Wed. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Thurs.; Fri. and Sat. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are open Sundays from 1 - 5 p.m.
