Bread and Butter Pickles
8 cups sliced cucumbers
2-3 cups sliced onions
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric
3 cups sugar
2 cups white vinegar
1/4 cup salt (soak)
Slice cucumbers thin, soak in salt water covered for 1 hour. Squeeze out. Put in large kettle. Add sugar, celery seed, turmeric, vinegar and onions. Cook until well heated through (bubbling). Put in hot jars and seal.
