Sponge Cake (for Strawberry Shortcake)

Jason’s grandmother, Betty Frantom, made this recipe a strawberry season tradition in our family. If you want to eat it the “right” way, put your strawberries on the piece of cake and pour milk over it all.

Beat with mixer, until very light:
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat in:
2 T. butter, melted in 1 c. boiling milk

Sift together, and add:
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Use greased 9×13 cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly brown on top.
